PCB on edge after India rejects, now seeks help from Pakistan government

2025 Champions Trophy: The Champions Trophy 2025 will be hosted in Pakistan and the Pakistan Cricket Board is trying its best to make the tournament happen here. The PCB received an email from the ICC stating that the Indian team will not travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy match. It will be impossible for the Indian team to visit Pakistan after this. Now PCB’s hybrid model still exists, but PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has rejected the hybrid model. This created a big crisis even when the Champions Trophy was being held.

PCB begins talks with Pakistan government

After the Pakistan Cricket Board expressed reluctance to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, its chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday began talks with senior government officials to discuss the future course of action. The PCB has informed the federal government of the situation. The PCB on Sunday confirmed that India has informed the ICC of its reluctance to travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy to be held in February-March next year.

PCB official and federal home minister Mohsin Naqvi said. He is in touch with government officials and is now waiting to hear what instructions Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will give. The official expressed disappointment at India’s stance despite Pakistan’s commitment to provide full security to the team visiting here during the prestigious ICC event. He said this was unacceptable as India had no reason to refuse to send a team to Pakistan again.

Pakistan government can give strict instructions

He said preparations for the tournament are going on as planned and we have assured the ICC the best security arrangements for all teams, including India. Meanwhile, there are speculations in Pakistan that the country’s government may direct the PCB to stop playing matches against India in any ICC or other multi-team events starting with the Champions Trophy until the Indian government does not change its policy.
