Paris Olympics 2024 opening ceremony time In India: The grand beginning of the Mahakumbh of sports i.e. Olympics is starting from today (26th July). The opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics will be held on the banks of the Seine River. India has sent a team of 117 players to the Paris Olympics. The team of these 117 members includes half the players from three sports – athletics (29), shooting (21) and hockey (19). Out of these 69 players, 40 players are participating in the Olympics for the first time.

For the first time in Olympic history, the opening ceremony will not be held inside the stadium. Which is most special this time. The Olympics began in Athens in 1896, so this will be the first time in its 128-year history that the traditional parade of the countries participating in these Games will take place on the banks of the Seine River, which flows through the center of Paris. However, there is a possibility of rain during the Olympic ceremonies.

In this opening ceremony, more than 10,000 Olympic athletes will pass through the Seine River on about 100 boats, while passing by some of the iconic sites of Paris, including Notre Dame, Pont des Arts, Pont Neuf.

The floating parade will start from the Austerlitz Bridge next to the Jardin des Plantes and end at the Trocadero, where the Olympic ceremonies will be the final show. The program is going to last for more than three hours.

French theater director and actor Thomas Joly is overseeing the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic ceremonies as artistic director.

PV Sindhu and Sharath Kamal will lead the parade
Two-time Olympic medal winning badminton star PV Sindhu and table tennis legend Sharat Kamal, who is ready to participate in his fifth Olympics, will lead the Indian contingent in the Olympics. Both these players will be the first players from their respective sports to become the flag bearers of India in the Olympic Opening Ceremony.

Indian players’ attire in Paris Olympics
In the opening ceremony of Paris Olympics, Indian male players will wear kurta bandi set while female players will wear matching saree depicting the tricolor flag of India. The garments featuring prints inspired by traditional ikat and Banarasi brocade have been designed by Tarun Tahiliani.

India won 7 medals in Tokyo Olympics
India won a total of 7 medals in the Tokyo Olympics, which is its best performance in the history of the Olympic Games. This also includes Indian player Neeraj Chopra’s first athletics gold. A total of 112 athletes from the country will participate in 69 medal events in 16 sports in Paris. Five reserve athletes will also be in Paris. India has so far won a total of 35 medals in the Olympic Games. Among these, only shooters Abhinav Bindra (2008) and Neeraj Chopra (2021) have won individual gold medals.
