Paris Olympics 2024: India’s dream of winning a medal shattered on the first day of Olympics, disappointing performance in shooting

Competitions have started in Paris Olympics 2024. Medals were expected from the Indian shooters on the first day, but they disappointed. In the 10 meter air rifle mixed team event, both the Indian pairs could not even qualify for the final. Elavenil Valarivan and Sandeep Singh stood at 12th position. Ramita Jindal and Arjun Babuta secured sixth position. Ramita-Arjun scored overall 628.7 marks. Whereas Elavenil-Sandeep were able to score 626.3 marks.

Let us tell you that only the top-4 teams qualified for the medal round in the 10 meter air rifle mixed team event. The final of this event is to be held on 27th July only. Keep in mind that this was the only medal event for India today. The record of winning a medal from India on the first day of the Olympic Games is in the name of weightlifter Mirabai Chanu. Chanu won the silver medal on the first day of Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Ramita- First series: 104.6, Second series 104.4, Third series 105.5, Total: 314.5 points

Arjun- First series: 104.1, Second series 106.2, Third series 103.9, Total: 314.2 points

Elavenil- First Series: 103.4, Second Series 104.7, Third Series 104.5, Total: 312.6 points

Sandeep- First series: 104.1, Second series 105.3, Third series 104.3, Total: 313.7 points
