2025 Champions Trophy: The question regarding the 2025 Champions Trophy has not yet been resolved. The tournament is now just three months away, but it’s unclear where the championship trophy will be held. Although the ICC gave the hosting rights to Pakistan, the BCCI flatly refused to send the Indian team there. This is a safety-related issue that cannot be compromised under any circumstances. Now let’s try to understand what will happen to the Champions League in the future. If the Pakistan Cricket Board, or PCB, continues to stick to its stance, it will suffer huge losses that will take years to recover. It would not be a big deal if Pakistan could be brought down by its intransigence.
The easiest way for Pakistan is to prepare for a hybrid model. A total of 15 matches will be played in the Champions Trophy, five of which will be played where the Indian team can play. But PCBs are not ready for this yet. That’s all I’ve heard so far. If the situation changes in the future, that’s a different matter. Believe this will happen eventually. Now Pakistan is only doing drama and nothing else. The other option left is to move the entire tournament elsewhere. This means that no match should be held in Pakistan and the entire tournament should be organized in other countries and all countries are ready to compete. This is being considered, but the PCB is not ready to accept it yet. The third and final option is to cancel the championship trophy, which means that the entire competition should not be held.
If Pakistan boycotts the Champions Trophy, it will cause huge losses.
At the same time, news also came that if the PCB disagrees, Pakistan can withdraw from this tournament, which means that this tournament will be completely boycotted. Although it is difficult, if this happens then Pakistan will suffer a lot. PCB may face a number of ICC sanctions, i.e. bans. Funding from the ICC to the PCB can also be stopped. Not only that, the approximately $65 million in aid provided to the PCB to host the tournament will also not be received. This is a huge amount for Pakistan and seems intolerable given the current situation.
Pakistan’s three stadiums will also remain ready and will not receive any funds
Not only this, the Pakistan Cricket Board is renovating its three stadiums. These include the names of Karachi, Rawalpindi and Lahore. So far, a lot of money has been invested in these stadiums. If Pakistan withdraws from the Champions League, this expenditure will be in vain. This means that PCB is in a very bad situation at this time and its efforts will be to find a middle path. In this way, his reputation is saved and the matter is resolved. But now PCB is just talk. That’s all. However, any remarks would be inappropriate until the ICC takes a final decision on the entire issue. A final decision on the matter is expected to be made within the next one to two weeks.
