They have been warned that they should not take part in protests proposed by jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party on Sunday and should not use government machinery or have to face serious consequences for it.
letter sent
The home ministry, through a letter, directed the chief secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to ensure that “state machinery, equipment, officials and funds” are not used “for political opposition by any political party”. Government employees were informed of the warning shortly after the letter was sent. PTI has announced the demo
Imran Khan’s main rival Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leads the alliance at the federal level, while his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rules Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province . PTI last week called for a long march to Islamabad and made three demands. The demands include the release of jailed party founders, alleged “mandate theft” during the February 8 elections, and the restoration of the judiciary by repealing the recent 26th Amendment to the Constitution.
