Pakistan: Islamabad sets up red zone, orders to shoot protesters on sight

Pakistan PTI protests: Imran Khan’s supporters in Pakistan have exacerbated the problems for Shahbaz Sharif’s government. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists launched a massive campaign demanding Khan’s release from prison. PTI workers from across the country are marching towards Islamabad, causing the situation to spiral out of control. There were also reports of violence in many places. Following Imran Khan’s orders, they will head to the capital to stage “life or death” protests against the current government from Sunday.

Order to shoot on sight

In light of demonstrations by PTI supporters, a red zone was established in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad. Pakistani troops have been deployed in red zones. The red zone houses government offices, the Prime Minister’s residence, parliament and embassies. Clear orders have been given that if any protester is spotted around the red zone, he should be shot immediately. The number of protesters exceeded 30,000.
