Pakistan Army detained former ISI chief, ordered court martial

Former Pakistan ISI chief Faiz Hameed has been taken into custody on charges related to a housing scheme scam related to Top City. Court martial proceedings have been initiated against him. The Public Relations Wing of the Pakistan Army said that following the order of the Supreme Court, a Court of Inquiry was conducted, in which the complaints against Hameed under the Pakistan Army Act were found to be valid.

The management of Top City has accused former ISI Chief Hameed of conspiring to raid the house and office of its boss Moiz Khan. He is accused of misuse of authority after retirement and violation of Pakistan Army Act.

Pakistan Army said in a statement on Monday, “Following the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, a Court of Inquiry was conducted to verify the veracity of the complaints made in the Top City case against Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed (Retd) and the charges.” Found correct. Action has been initiated against Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed (retd) under the provisions of Pakistan Army Act.” The Army said that court martial proceedings are now being taken against him.

The reputation of national institutions may be harmed

The Supreme Court of Pakistan had earlier indicated that the allegations against Hameed were “extremely serious” and further investigation was needed. He said they “cannot be ignored” because if proven they could damage the reputation of national institutions.

Hameed’s brother was also sent into custody

Recently, Hameed’s brother, Najaf Hameed, was sent on 14-day judicial remand by a Rawalpindi court in connection with the same case. The Supreme Court has also suggested to the victims that they can contact the officials of Defense Ministry and Home Ministry for settlement of their cases.
