PAK vs BAN Rawalpindi Test: Pakistani captain Shan Masood’s statement after defeat to Bangladesh, blamed the pitch

Pakistan vs Bangladesh Rawalpindi Test: Bangladesh Test team has created history by defeating Pakistan in its own home. The first match of the 2 Test series between the two teams was played from 21 to 25 August, on the last day of which Bangladesh won by 10 wickets. After this defeat, Pakistani captain Shan Masood gave a childish statement and blamed the pitch for the defeat.

In the match, Pakistan declared its first innings at 448 runs for 6 wickets. Despite this, it had to face defeat. Bangladesh scored 565 runs in the first innings. Due to this, they got a lead of 117 runs in the first innings. Pakistan team collapsed at 146 runs in the second innings and set a target of just 30 runs. After this, Bangladesh created history by winning this match without losing any wicket.

After the defeat, Shan Masood said that the pitch did not play as we had thought. This seems like a childish statement. Perhaps he should say that he made a mistake in reading the pitch. In this test, the Pakistani team came with 4 fast bowlers. Whereas the Bangladesh team had 6 spinners and they turned the match around. Masood also responded to this strategy.

The captain blamed the pitch for the defeat

Masood said, ‘There is no point in making excuses, but yes, the pitch did not play as we thought. Also, there were different factors in the game. Like, on the first day itself, rain washed away half the day’s play. So if the game is to be played for four or four and a half days, then you think that it will go fast.’

He said, ‘You want to bowl as many overs as possible. You also have to look at the pitch. And there is also the matter of weather. First Islamabad and then Rawalpindi. We were here for nine days and it rained almost every day. And then after the first day you played a Test in which not a single drop of rain fell.’

The captain said this on playing 4 pacers

Regarding playing four fast bowlers, Masood said, ‘There are many things, but in the end we have to see how many mistakes we made. And we have to correct them. The thought was that the pitch will help a little more. Also, I thought that if we went with three pace bowlers, they will have to work very hard.’

The captain said, ‘There will be a lot of load on them. Also, this means that the spinners will have to bowl 25-30 overs every day. This is what we wanted to avoid. Spinners might be needed on the fifth day, but we thought that in this weather, they might not last for the full five days.’
