Pahalgam attack: Mehbooba Mufti raises alarm on the safety of Kashmiri students, communal hatred on social media

Srinagar, April 29: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday raised an alarm on the safety of Kashmiri students studying across India after the Pahgam terror attack. She said that she is receiving distressed calls from students who are living in fear due to increasing stress and threats.

Mehbooba said in a statement, “Some institutions have postponed the examination and advised the students to return home until the normal situation was restored, while others have not taken any such step,” a statement said in a statement, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and all the states of all the states were urged to intervene immediately and ensure safety of Kashmiri students until they could return safely.

He condemned an increase in communal hatred spread over social media platforms, asked strict action against those who tried to stoke division.

He said, “A strong message should be sent to those who spread communal hatred online. These divisive forces should be identified and should be strongly dealt with to maintain peace and harmony.”

Mehboba called upon the authorities to prevent any growth and coordinate with educational institutions and local police to ensure safety and dignity of students from Jammu and Kashmir.
