The BJP is convening a high-level meeting after Amit Shah’s statement during the constitutional debate in the Union House sparked an uproar. The first meeting was held between Shah and some BJP ministers including JP Nadda. Thereafter, Shah’s meeting with the Prime Minister will be held at the Prime Minister’s Office in Parliament.
According to sources, the meeting is likely to hold strategic discussions on the manner in which Shah’s statement on Baba Saheb Ambedkar was distorted.
What’s going on?
Amit Shah on Tuesday (December 17) launched a blistering attack on the Congress party while responding to the debate on the Constitution in the Union House. During this time, Shah said the Congress was still chanting Ambedkar-Ambedkar. If you chant this much for God, you will go to heaven. Shah further said the Congress needs to adopt Ambedkar’s name more but the public knows what its objectives are.
Meanwhile, the Congress termed Shah’s remarks as an insult to Ambedkar. Everyone from Mallikarjun Kharge to Rahul Gandhi himself has raised the issue and said it is an insult to Dalits.
Rahul Gandhi linked the entire issue to the ideology of Manusmriti and RSS.
There was an uproar in the house
Shah’s remarks caused a huge uproar in the Lok Sabha and the Federal House of Representatives. Malikajun Haq demanded Shah’s resignation for insulting Ambedkar. Haq said Shah had no right to continue as interior minister.
The issue also created an uproar in the Lok Sabha, following which the proceedings of the House were postponed. Congress and opposition MPs demonstrated outside the Parliament building holding pictures of Ambedkar.
The government has also taken active actions
The government is also leading the way on the entire issue. In the House of Federation, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said Congress was creating drama over the entire incident. The nation knows that the BJP respects Baba Ambedkar, but the Congress deleted a small snippet of Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement and distorted it. She abused it.
Rijiju further said, I condemn the Congress party’s ploy of holding up Ambedkar ji’s photo outside. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan also cornered the Congress seeking answers to the matter.
