Only 30 hours left for nominations in Maharashtra… Know where the seat-sharing issue is entangled in MVA-Mahayuti.

Maharashtra is about to hold assembly elections, with just 30 hours left for nominations. The ruling Mahayutth Alliance and the opposition Mahavika Aghadi Alliance face each other in the election. But the two coalitions failed to agree on many seats. MVA is yet to announce candidates for 29 seats and Mahayuti for 53 seats. Meanwhile, the MVA-ally Samajwadi Party appears to be following a different path.

Both alliances are believed to be at loggerheads with their allies over seat-sharing, with many other seats also being shelved due to a lack of consensus. However, it is likely that by this afternoon or evening, both sides will clarify their positions and announce the names of all candidates.

Nominations are open until Tuesday afternoon

Maharashtra is holding assembly elections for 288 seats. Voting will be held in a single phase on November 20 and the results will be announced on November 23. The last date to submit nomination papers is October 29. This means candidates have until 3pm on Tuesday to nominate. Thereafter, nomination papers will be reviewed on October 30. Nomination papers can be withdrawn until November 4. Maharashtra has 36 constituencies and 963 crore voters. The parliamentary term here ends on November 26.
