Border-Gavaskar Trophy: The Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been taking place between India and Australia since 1996. Over the past 29 years, the series has held a special place in fans’ hearts, and its popularity continues to grow. To date, the series has set many big records, as well as many that have been destroyed. But only David Warner and Virat Kohli have created a record in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Kohli-Warner did wonders a decade ago
So far, only superstar batsmen Virat Kohli and David Warner have been able to achieve the feat of hundreds in two innings of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test match. Apart from these two, no other batsman has been able to do that in BGT. What’s special is that Kohli and Warner both scored hundreds in two innings of the same Test match in Adelaide in 2014.
Showed his strength in his first Test match as captain
In 2014, the Indian team toured Australia but failed to participate in the first Test match due to Mahendra Singh Dhoni and other reasons. The captaincy responsibilities were then handed over to young Virat Kohli, who made his intention to captain the team known with his brilliant batting in the first Test. Kohli scored 115 runs in the first innings and 141 in the second.
Warner also scored hundreds in two innings
In the same match, Australia’s David Warner performed brilliantly. He hit hundreds in both innings, scoring 145 in the first and 102 in the second. Barring Virat Kohli and Murali Vijay, the Indian team’s batsmen struggled in the second innings. For this reason, the Indian team had to face a 48-run defeat.
