he Modi Cabinet on Wednesday approved the ‘One State, One Election’ proposal, which seeks to synchronise elections to the Lok Sabha and state assemblies on the same schedule. According to sources, the ‘One State, One Election’ Bill is likely to be introduced in the upcoming winter session of Parliament.
The development came after a high-level panel headed by former President Ram Nath Kovind approved the proposal.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi advocated “one nation, one election” in his Independence Day speech last month, arguing that frequent elections would hinder the country’s development.
