On stabbing amendment… PM Modi tells House why constitutional changes are needed

PM Modi discusses constitution

Addressing the Lok Sabha on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Constitution on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress and stressed the importance of the Constitution. During this period, the Prime Minister pressed Congress on the issue of constitutional amendments and said that Congress has been playing with the spirit of the Constitution while his government was wholeheartedly committed to the Constitution to make changes. But the changes his government has made have been made out of necessity.

Prime Minister Modi said that no matter how the Constitution is revised, it is necessary for the unity, integrity and bright future of the country. He accused Congress of always trying to harm the soul of the Constitution because of its greed for power. “We are working hard to amend the constitution, but these changes are only in the interest of the country,” Modi said, citing the example of how Atal Bihari Vajpayee resigned within 13 days because of his commitment to on the Constitution and democratic values.

Targeted poverty alleviation

The Prime Minister also took aim at the Congress’s ‘Garibi Hatao’ movement. He said that eradicating poverty is the biggest slogan of Congress, but has your country done the work of repairing toilets? You only see poor people on TV, but you don’t actually feel poor. Modi accused the Congress of only raising slogans while his government took concrete steps for the poor.

The Prime Minister also said in his speech that the government has opened bank accounts for 500 million poor people, making them part of the banking system. As an example, he told how when banks were nationalized in 2014, 500 million people had never seen a bank. Modi said that the mission of our government is to lift the poor out of poverty and this is our top priority.

Decisions are taken not for power but for the unity of the country…

He also made clear that the constitutional amendments carried out by his government were not intended to increase powers. These amendments are intended to strengthen the unity of the country and empower women and OBCs. Modi said that we have never revised the constitution for political selfishness, but for the prosperity of the country.

At the end of his speech, Prime Minister Modi paid tribute to those who are marginalized in society and implemented many schemes for them. He said his government’s goal was to transform the lives of people who had been ignored by the government. Modi also said that he admires people whom no one ever thought of.
