The Indian Army has recently received 96 ATOR N1200 Specialist Mobility Vehicles. Their benefit is maximum in marshy areas like Kutch. It is made by JSW Gecko company. A deal worth Rs 250 crore was made for this. These vehicles were also shown on the Republic Day of 2024.
ATOR N1200 is an advanced amphibious vehicle. Which is also called extreme mobility vehicle. They can operate in a variety of challenging terrains. This vehicle has been designed as per the indigenous needs, so that it can run on any type of terrain. At present this vehicle has been deployed near the Kutch border.

The army is using it in Kutch. This vehicle can also run in muddy and marshy areas. Because its wheels do not get stuck. Apart from this, it can move at high speed anywhere in snow, water, sand. Apart from Army Kutch, this vehicle will be deployed in the North-East and Himalayan areas. This can prove to be very important for the Indian Army.

Planning is going on for the use of common people
This time this vehicle was displayed for the first time in front of the general public in the Republic Day Parade. Now plans are being made to use ATOR N1200 for public transport also. So that common people can also get the benefit of this vehicle. Like in relief and rescue operations during disasters.

Can seat 9 people, go anywhere in any weather
It has a 1.2 liter turbocharged diesel engine which gives it a power of 136 horsepower. It has a hydro-pneumatic suspension arm, which helps it move on any type of road. This is four wheel drive. Its ground clearance is 600 mm. It can work in any weather from minus 40 degree Celsius to 45 degree Celsius. 9 people can sit in it at a time. Or can lift 1200 Kg weight.
