Omar Abdullah, former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir and vice-president of the National Conference, took aim at PM Modi and the BJP. He said, “In the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP tried to gain a foothold in Kashmir through proxies. New faces, new approaches were tried but failed miserably. There, the deposits of candidates supported by the BJP were seized but PM Modi will continue his efforts. Because they don’t like the National Conference but the people are with us.”

“The prime minister has absolutely no idea about the sacrifices made by the National Conference for the country. More than 4,000 of our workers sacrificed their lives for the country and it is we who kept the national flag intact here,” Omar Abdullah said. He was reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement in which he accused “three political families” of destroying Jammu and Kashmir through dynastic politics. While addressing a rally in Doda on Saturday, PM Modi said, “This time the assembly elections are between three families and youth of Jammu and Kashmir.”

Abdullah: Why is it still terrorism when there is no Article 370 anymore?

National Conference president Farooq Abdullah also criticised PM Modi’s statement. He said, “We did not create separatists. Pakistan is responsible for this. They have ruled Jammu and Kashmir for 5 years and they always blame Article 370 for terrorism but now there is no Article 370, why is terrorism still there? Where did all the weapons come from? Why was Rashid, the engineer who supported separatism, released on bail before the elections?”

Talking about the ‘three political families’ in Jammu and Kashmir, PM Modi said, ‘One family is the Congress, one family is the National Assembly and one family is the People’s Democratic Party. What these three families have done to you, the people of Jammu and Kashmir, is nothing less than a crime. These three parties play familyist politics and do not allow the youth here to come forward. That is why after coming to power in 2014, I tried to bring forward a new leadership for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. In 2018, the village panchayat elections were held here. The BDC elections were held in 2019 and the DDC elections were held for the first time in 2020. Why are these elections being held? To take democracy to the grassroots level in Jammu and Kashmir.

PM Modi mocks Sushil Shinde’s remarks

PM Modi also took a sharp swipe at former Union Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde’s recent statement in which he said he was scared when he went to Lal Chowk in Jammu and Kashmir as Home Minister under the UPA-2 regime. It was. PM Modi said, “Do you remember when there was a curfew as soon as the sun went down?” It was a situation where even the Central government led by the Congress Home Minister did not dare to go to Lal Chowk. This is the first assembly election held in Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370. There are a total of 90 assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, of which seven seats are reserved for SCs and nine for STs.
