Akhilesh Kar said the BJP entered the electoral contest not with the help of its members but with the help of government agencies. He said the PPP’s defeat in the by-election was certain because it did not contest the election on its own but with external help. Akhilesh also claimed that the BJP was exerting pressure on the media, resulting in independent reporting being affected.

Yogi visits Benares

On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath arrived in Benares for a one-day visit. There he launched a new scholarship program for Sanskrit students. The chief minister said scholarships are provided for poor students but so far there are no special arrangements for Sanskrit students. He expressed surprise that in a state with a population of 250 million, only 300 Sanskrit students have received scholarships. And most students don’t realize it either.
