Danger of wind speed
Along with the cyclone comes the possibility of strong winds. Currently, Cyclone Dana has wind speeds of 100 to 110 kilometers per hour over the sea, and can reach up to 120 kilometers per hour. Between October 23 and 25, wind speeds may further increase in coastal areas, which may cause damage to houses, trees and power poles. Manorama Mahandi said the storm’s exact speed would not be known until the morning of October 24, but it was important to prepare from now on.
A warning to fishermen
The meteorological department reminded fishermen to return to the sea immediately and not to go into the sea from October 21. Due to the cyclone, sea conditions become dangerous and can lead to serious accidents while fishing. October has traditionally been a dangerous month for Odisha. Disasters such as Super Cyclone in 1999 and Phailin Cyclone in 2013 have severely affected the state.
obey government orders
Cyclone Dana also falls into this category and therefore has the potential to cause another massive devastation. State governments and administrations are on alert.
