Misbehavior with tribal women
An incident of misbehavior among tribal women took place in Odisha’s Bolangir district. Not only did the woman misbehave, but she was also forced to stuff (human) excrement into her mouth. The case took place in Jurabandha village in Bangamunda police station area. It is understood that the accused youth attacked a 20-year-old woman and molested her.
The woman has complained to police about the abuse she suffered. It was learned that the accused, a non-tribal, took a tractor from the woman’s field and caused damage to the crops in the field. The woman protested and asked him not to drive the tractor. During this time, the defendant beat her and forced human feces into her mouth.
Tribal women misbehaving
While abusing the woman, the accused also made objectionable remarks about her caste. After the incident, the defendant absconded. The woman has reported the incident to Bangor Munda police station. The police have registered a case under 288/24. Kantabanji SDPO Gaurang Charan Sahu said a complaint has been filed on behalf of the victim. The accused is absconding but efforts are on to nab him. He will be caught soon.
Tribes are outraged by the incident
Meanwhile, opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Niranjan Bisi claimed that the police had not taken any action against the accused, sparking anger among tribals. Following the incident, local tribal groups demanded justice. They demanded severe punishment for the perpetrators. They also warned that if the government did not take immediate action, they would protest together.
Local social worker Ajit Joshi condemned the entire incident and demanded strict punishment for the culprits. He demanded the district administration to arrest the accused immediately. He said such incidents cannot be tolerated and the perpetrators should be severely punished.
