In the Kendrapara rape case of a minor in Odisha, a district court sentenced the accused to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. The 53-year-old defendant is the victim’s neighbor. Police detained him from court and sent him to jail. This information was given by Special Prosecutor Manoj Kumar Sahu of the District Court. He said the case was pending before the court of the Additional District Judge-cum-Special Judge (POCSO).
In this regard, after listening to the opinions of all parties, the court found the defendant guilty and announced the punishment. In this case, the police completed the investigation within the stipulated time and submitted the charge sheet to the court. After that, the court also gave testimony to 19 witnesses after reviewing relevant evidence. During this time, all evidence and witness statements against the defendant were discovered. The court has since described the matter as serious and shameful.

The court sentenced the principal in this case to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and also imposed a fine of 50,000 rupees on Kapilendra Malik. According to the special prosecutor, the defendant committed the incident on June 6, 2022. The victim came to the defendant’s house to meet her friends. During this period, the defendant deceived the victim and locked him in the room to commit the crime.

After the incident, the seriously injured victim returned home and told her mother about the entire incident. Later, the victim and her mother went to the police station to report the incident. Based on this complaint, the police registered a case. According to the police, the accused were arrested at the same time and sent to jail after necessary interrogation.
