This chapter titled ‘The Saga of the Tiffin Carriers’ will be included in the English book of class 9 in Kerala. This chapter has been written by authors Hugh and Colleen Gantzer. The Kerala State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has included the story of ‘Dabbawalas’ in its updated syllabus for 2024. This chapter will tell how Dabbawala started in Mumbai. Mumbai’s dabbawalas have now become famous for their work and hard work all over the world. Business schools and researchers have taken note of their business. Apart from this, they have also been mentioned in films, documentaries and books. In 2019, Mumbai artist Abhijeet Kini also created a comic book on their work. Dabbawalas now also go to give lectures in big institutions like IIT and IIM in India and abroad.

The Covid-19 pandemic had a huge impact on their work and their number had come down to around two thousand. Now only those who need the job are doing this work, as their service is slowly recovering. When the Dabbawalas were included in the school curriculum in Kerala, they thanked the state education department and appreciated the recognition of their service.
