Meanwhile, there is news of attack on army soldiers also. This attack on the army vehicle took place in Gopalganj area. According to the Dhaka Tribune report, 15 people including army personnel, journalists and local people have been injured in this incident. Among the injured, two were shot. The incident occurred around 4 pm on Saturday evening when thousands of Awami League workers were on the streets demanding the return of Sheikh Hasina.

When the soldiers stopped the protest, they attacked

According to the report, thousands of Awami League leaders, workers and local people were demanding the return of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to the country. They had blocked the Dhaka-Khulna highway. Meanwhile, the army vehicle reached there and appealed to the protesters to open the road and end the protest. But the crowd started throwing bricks at them. Later, army personnel used batons to disperse the crowd.

In response, the protesters vandalized an army vehicle and set it on fire. Lieutenant Colonel Maqsudur Rahman of Gopalganj Camp confirmed the incident and said that around 3,000 to 4,000 people had gathered and blocked the road. Many army personnel have been injured in the attack. Former president of Gopinathpur Sangh Lachhu Sharif said that the army members opened fire to control the situation. Two people, including a child, were shot. No one died in the incident.

Alert on India-Bangladesh border

In view of the unrest in neighboring Bangladesh, Assam Police is on high alert along the India-Bangladesh border to ensure that no person can enter the state illegally. Director General of Police G.P. Singh said that the Center has issued instructions that no person will be allowed to enter India illegally from Bangladesh.

Hindus are also being targeted in Bangladesh. Many temples have been set on fire. Meanwhile, head of the interim government Mohammad Yunus on Saturday condemned the attacks on minority communities affected by the violence. He described the attacks on minorities as heinous and urged all the youth to ensure the safety of Hindu, Christian and Buddhist families. According to Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council and Bangladesh Puja Udyapan Parishad, two Hindu organisations, members of minority communities in Bangladesh have faced attacks in at least 53 districts since the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government on August 5. Faced at least 205 incidents.
