Amidst political turmoil in Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina’s biggest opponent Khaleda Zia has been released. In his first statement after his release, he thanked the people who “struggled to make the impossible possible”. He said that there is a need to establish “love and peace” to restore the country, not through “hatred” or “revenge”.

Khaleda Zia is the president of Bangladesh Nationalist Party and was found guilty in a corruption case in 2018. She is 79 years old and has appealed to the people to establish peace. He thanked the people who prayed for his release.

Khaleda Zia said, “I have been released. This victory gives us new possibilities to emerge from the debris of loot, corruption and misgovernance. We need reforms to make this country prosperous.”

Told the youth about the future of the country

BNP Chief said, “Youth are our future. We will create a democratic Bangladesh to fulfill their dream for which they have shed their blood. No destruction, anger or revenge, we need love and peace to restore our country. Is required.”

Guilty of corruption, was sentenced to 17 years

Khaleda Zia, who was sentenced to 17 years in prison in 2018 during the Sheikh Hasina-led government, had to resign from the post of PM on Monday and leave the country. She was in jail for two years. His sentence was suspended in an executive order on March 25, 2020, which was subsequently extended for a period of six months.
