Washington:
US President Donald Trump on Monday reiterated his opposition to bombing Russia’s Ukraine as his administration participates in the negotiations seeking the end of the fight there.
In Ukraine, “I am not happy about what is going on”, Republican told reporters at the White House, alleging “bombing just like bombing” on Russia, he even said that the parties were “close like” on a deal.
Moscow and Kiev have been closed in the war for the last three years, and Trump described tireless attacks as a “good condition”.
“So we are meeting with Russia, we’re meeting with Ukraine, and we’re closing, but I am not happy with all the bombing in the last week,” he said. “This is a terrible thing.”
The US leader said in March that he was “angry” with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and told reporters on Sunday: “We would like to stop them. I don’t like bombing.”
Trump’s Monday’s comment said by Kremlin that it came in Ukraine a few hours after supporting a truss idea, but there were many “questions” about such a deal, which pushed back the US and European suggestions that it was playing for time.
Russia has maintained its attacks on Ukraine despite the US President’s promise of bringing peace within the “24 hours” returning to the White House in January.
Putin rejected a joint US-Ukrainian proposal for an unconditional and full ceasefire in March.
