After Delhi, Mumbai, Bhopal and Bengaluru, North Karnataka has also started efforts to open mother’s milk banks. The bank will be opened at Vijaypura Government Hospital. There are plans to open the bank by the end of this year. Thousands of children who have lost breast milk for some reason will benefit from the opening of the Mother’s Milk Bank in the region. With this idea, the Karnataka government has started construction of this bank at Vijayapura Hospital in North Karnataka, which will set up a system for collecting mother’s milk, carry out proper maintenance and then Transport it to children in need.

Not only in medicine, but also in our religious texts, breast milk is said to give life to the child. Because of this milk, the mother-child bond lasts a lifetime. Keeping this concept in mind, the state government has taken the initiative to start a mother’s milk bank. According to officials, breast milk can be stored in this bank for three months. Through the center itself, children whose mothers are unable to breastfeed them will be identified. This inability may be due to their illness or other causes.

Mother will be examined before donation

The government believes that children should not have to suffer the consequences of their mother’s illness. According to health department officials, any woman can voluntarily donate breast milk from the breast milk bank. Apart from this, mothers who are producing milk but do not have children of their own or who produce more milk than their children need can also donate breast milk here. However, mothers who donate breast milk here must first undergo testing such as HIV/HBSAG/WBRL. Only if these test reports are correct will they be allowed to donate milk.

2,000 children benefit every year

According to officials, after a mother’s breast milk is received, it is pasteurized to destroy any bacteria. According to officials, at least 2,000 newborns will benefit from mothers’ milk banks opened at Vijayapura government hospitals every year. Through this bank, voluntary donors, bereaved mothers and working mothers will get the facility to donate milk. Let us tell you that this type of breast milk bank already exists in Bangalore. Apart from this, such banks have been operating in Delhi, Mumbai, Bhopal and many other cities across the country for the past few years. However, awareness remains low. Nonetheless, the move proved to be quite effective.
