A 28 kilometer stretch of NH-44 built at a cost of 960 crores in Seoni, Madhya Pradesh has fallen into a bad shape. Just three years after its inauguration, potholes have appeared everywhere. The road in two parts of the highway has cracked in such a way that a 50 meter stretch is being repaired by barricading it.

Rs 960 crore has been spent on building the 28 km stretch of the highway passing through the Pench Tiger Reserve. This highway was in the news in 2021 because it is the country’s first soundproof highway, on both sides of which a special metal sheet has been installed so that the sound of vehicles does not reach the forest.

Gadkari also inspected

Thousands of vehicles pass through this highway every day. Underpasses have been built under the 9 km elevated road for the movement of animals. During the construction of this part of the highway, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari also inspected it twice, but despite this, the pictures of the dilapidated condition of the highway are telling a lot.

The company and NHAI are surrounded by questions

There are so many potholes on the road that commuters have to zigzag their way through them. In some parts of the highway, it is not clear whether there are potholes in the middle of the road or there is road somewhere between the potholes. Not only are questions raised on the construction company for this bad condition of the highway, but questions are also raised on NHAI working under Nitin Gadkari.

When the matter came to the media, repair work has started at one place. Currently, traffic is passing through one part. A big question is arising that how did potholes appear on this highway in such a short time after its inauguration.
