There is panic in Lebanon after the pager bombings on September 17. Many Hezbollah fighters were killed in the attack. About 4,000 people are said to be injured. Lebanon claims that Israel is behind the bombings. Hezbollah has warned of retaliation. In view of this, Israel has been alerted. Israel has deployed 20,000 soldiers on the Lebanese border.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog held security briefings on Wednesday morning. In addition to this, Israeli Army Chief of Staff General Halevy held a meeting with senior military commanders. He quickly took stock of offensive and defensive preparations. Citizens have been asked to remain alert and vigilant. However, the Israeli military refused to answer questions about the pager explosion in Lebanon.

After months of operations in the Gaza Strip under the Southern Command, Israel has now decided to deploy the IDF’s 98th Division in northern Israel. The decision comes amid growing tensions with Hezbollah. The Paratrooper and Commando Divisions will now join the 36th Division under the Northern Command. In late August, the 98th Division, consisting of about 20,000 soldiers, withdrew from Khan Yunis in southern Gaza.

More than 4,000 injured

According to the latest figures, 12 people have died. Among them are 10 Hezbollah fighters. More than 4,000 people are said to be injured. The main target is Beirut. Beirut, Dahiya, Bekaa, Nabatiyah, Bint Jubail, southern Beirut and southern Lebanon have been targeted. Nearly a hundred explosions have caused panic in many parts of Syria. The son of Hezbollah MP Ali Ammar was also killed in the pager explosion. In addition, Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Mojtaba Amani was also injured. He has a deep wound in his eye.

This is the situation in Lebanon now.

There have been strong protests in both countries following the September 17th bombings. The Lebanese people are in fear. The government has asked people to throw away their pagers immediately. On Wednesday, the day after the attacks, the streets of Lebanon were empty. Newspapers and magazines were plastered with pictures of the attacks. There were many wounded outside the hospital. Security guards were deployed on every corner, and anyone who looked suspicious was questioned.

Apart from this, padlocks are hanging outside schools, colleges and offices in Lebanon. People are afraid to even leave their homes. After the explosion, people threw away their pagers and now even dare not use their mobile phones. The situation is such that the sidewalks where people walked in the morning are now empty. Even shops and markets are closed. People everywhere are terrified and some are questioning how the pagers were suddenly blown up.
