The revised score card for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2024 has not been released yet. After the final decision of the Supreme Court on NEET, the candidates are eagerly waiting for the score card, because the rank of many students may increase or decrease in the new scorecard. According to media reports, NTA can release the final scorecard today.

Why is the revised scorecard being released?

There was a need to change the merit list after the Supreme Court’s direction regarding an unclear question in Physics. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had announced on July 23 that the revised results would be released within two days. In fact, the court has told the National Testing Agency to accept only the answers given by the expert team of IIT Delhi in the Physics question paper as correct and accordingly, it has ordered to revise the results of four lakh students.

The expert team of IIT Delhi was asked by the Supreme Court on Monday to give the correct answer to the wrong question in the Physics paper. Initially, due to discrepancies between the old and new NCERT books, NTA had asked two options to be considered as the correct answer and students were given grace marks accordingly. After the report of the expert team, the court clarified that two options of one question cannot be considered as the correct answer. This adjustment will affect the marks of about 4.2 lakh students who had chosen the already accepted answer, reducing the number of top scorers from 61 to an estimated 17.
