The 70th National Film Awards have been announced. Rishabh Shetty received the Best Actor award for ‘Kantara’. Nithya Menen and Manshi Parekh won the Best Actress award. Neena Gupta once again established her presence in this list. She has received the Best Supporting Actress award for the film ‘Unchai’.
This film, released in 2022, was directed by Sooraj Barjatya. In this, Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Parineeti Chopra and Sarika were also seen in important roles.
Neena Gupta’s reaction
Neena Gupta, while talking to Aaj Tak, has expressed happiness on winning the National Award. For once he could not believe that he had received this award. She says- I am very shocked. It has been two years since the film was released. This is a big surprise for me. National Award is a big thing. Someone just told me. Not only this, I don’t know that Sooraj Barjatya has also received the Best Director Award for ‘Unchai’.
“Forget the award. I am grateful even when I get work. Getting an award for your work is a big achievement. Had fun while shooting the film. I love Sooraj Barjatya. He remained very calm on the set. There was no shouting. It was great working with everyone.
Won National Award 3 times
This achievement of National Award is very special for Neena. Because there came a time in her career when she was forced to ask for work. After this she did the film ‘Badhaai Ho’, since then she has been seen playing different roles in many projects. Through acting, Neena has shown her skills in many shades. It is the result of her strong acting that till now she has won the National Award thrice.
Neena received the Best First Non Feature Film Director award for the 1993 film ‘Bazaar Sitaram’. Then in 1994, she received the Best Supporting Actress Award for the film ‘Woh Chhokri’. She played the role of a young widow in the movie.
