Srinagar, September 24: Javed Iqbal Choudhary from 86-Budhal Rajouri district The J&K National Conference (JKNC) on Tuesday sought urgent intervention from the Election Commission of India (ECI) over malfunctioning election machines in the district.

In a letter to the Election Commission of India (ECI), Chaudhry said, “I am writing this letter to urgently draw your attention to the complete breakdown of the electoral machinery in Rajouri district between the local election authorities and the BJP candidates. Shocking Collusion Case, Zulfkar Ali. He said reports of cash and alcohol being distributed under the guise of security persisted despite numerous complaints being widely reported on social media.

Choudhary said the situation had escalated during the 86th Budhal Assembly segment. Law enforcement agencies seemed absent, forcing citizens to monitor vehicles transporting cash, liquor and BJP electoral slips. Although the campaign closes at 6 pm on September 23, 2024, the activities of the BJP continue unabated, with external politicians and religious leaders using press conferences as an excuse to actively campaign.

I am particularly disturbed by the actions of the local SHO, magistrates and civilian officials who detained more than 50 JKNC election agents and community leaders. This was clearly intended to help the BJP influence the election through illegal means. Choudhary said the inaction of the DEO and SSP further highlighted their complicity.

Moreover, what is worrying is that the security of a DDC member in Budhar was withdrawn under suspicious circumstances, while the BJP workers were allowed to move freely under police protection. He said the BJP’s chief election agent was seen distributing liquor outside his Panchayat home last night and incriminating evidence was circulating on social media.

The blatant disregard for electoral laws and targeting of JKNC members reflects the shocking level of lawlessness in the 86-Budhal unit. He added that the apparent absence of election observers raised serious concerns about potential bias against the BJP.

He further added that based on reports received from the constituencies, the SHO has summoned Sarpanch Shams Din of Panghlar, Sarpanch Kalu Khan of Oudhan and Sarpanch Muneer Ahmed of Kotercharwal to sit at the police station till the end of polling to facilitate distribution of money and liquor. It was conducted by the Bharatiya Janata Party under security cover.

NC leaders went on to say that more than 50 NC workers have been asked to be detained in Peeri. In Budar, seven of my polling agents were detained for disrupting voting in tomorrow’s election. In Kandi, three of my polling agents were detained. He said that more than 200 NC staff have been called to report to the police immediately until the polls close, adding that if this harassment of our party members continues, we will be forced to boycott tomorrow’s election and mobilized our supporters to the district headquarters.

National Council leaders urged the Election Commission to take immediate action to restore the integrity of the electoral process in Rajouri.
