A shameful incident took place at an orphanage in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. A 13-year-old girl who lived there was raped. At present, the police have opened a case against four people in this matter. Surprisingly, these defendants also included two employees of the orphanage. One of them is a female caregiver.
Giving information about the case, an official from Navi Mumbai police said that based on the complaint, sections 64 (rape) and 74 (violation of modesty of woman) of the Indian Judicial Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act ) has registered a case under IPC (assault with intent or use of criminal force) at Khandeshwar police station.
The accused also included employees of the orphanage, including a female caretaker, but she failed to report the crime, which took place between July and September, police officials told PTI. Therefore, the defendant was emboldened.
According to first-hand reports, one of the accused entered the girl’s home through a window and raped her in July, while another man attacked her in a similar manner last month. A man touched a girl inappropriately.
Officers said the female caregiver knew about the abuse but failed to notify police. He said no arrests have been made in the case. But further action is being taken. Soon, the accused will be behind bars.
