Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy advocates a six-day work week. His latest stance comes after he advocated for a 70-hour work week. Murthy regretted the change in the 1986 workweek from six to five days.

“I’m sorry, I haven’t changed my mind. I will take this to my grave,” Murthy said while expressing his views on the six-day work week at the CNBC Global Leadership Summit. Murthy praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly working 100 hours a week.

“When Prime Minister Modi is working 100 hours a week, the only way to express our gratitude for what is happening around us is through our work,” Murthy said.

However, netizens did not agree with him. Some social media users criticized Murthy’s stance on Instagram and X.

One user commented on Instagram, “This man doesn’t know about work-life balance because he doesn’t need to cook, clean the house, drive himself to the office, buy groceries and I don’t think he’s going to book a flight for the past 10 -20 years (sic) he paid for it himself.”

Another added: “The pay is probably 2 days a week, 6 days a week.”

One user said: “Sir, there is nothing wrong with your views and it is fine that you want everyone to do the same. I repeat, you can only expect but not force or order people to follow your or any other ideology. “

“While I don’t object, I will work 6 days a week when my employer treats me like a human being rather than an object. It has to be worth it. Otherwise you will end up burning yourself and getting another CEO Officials make millions,” said another user on Instagram.

“Sorry we only have one life and working hard is good and we have to work hard. But ultimately the motivation for working hard is to enjoy our life. I’m sorry but I don’t agree with you,” another user added.

Some netizens also pointed out that they need to pay according to working time.

“I don’t think anyone minds working hard as long as they get a fair reward for their work – in terms of wages, fair taxes, good infrastructure, clean cities, reduced corruption, curbed inflation, decent healthcare and education, etc. aspect.

So far, it’s been one-sided. ” commented one user on X.

“He would be happy if we worked seven days a week.

You only pay wages. Are profits shared with employees?

Beware of those who keep society alcoholic for their own good (sic),” another user added.

One user said: “If I was paid enough then I would be willing to work for you for as long as I want but that is not the case. Most people in India are not paid enough.”

“Different people have different priorities, some want to work 80 hours a week, some want to enjoy life on less, both are equally true,” another user on X wrote.
