An important meeting was held at the Sofitel Bandra to discuss the issue of seat sharing among the Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) for the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Uddhav faction Sanjay Raut, Anil Desai, Congress Nana Patole, Vijay Waditiwar, Balasaheb Thorat, Sharad faction Jayant Patil, Jitendra Awad were present in the meeting. The meeting lasted for about four hours.

Mahavikas Aghadi leaders have completed the first round of discussions on seat-sharing in Maharashtra, excluding Vidarbha region.

According to sources, the three component parties have agreed on 120 to 130 of the total 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra. Meanwhile, the parties that won the 2019 assembly elections will contest again on the same seats. However, around 10 to 20 per cent of the seats won earlier will be exchanged.

During the four-hour meeting, detailed discussions were held on the constituencies of Mumbai-Konkan, Marathwada, West Maharashtra and North Maharashtra.

Interestingly, with the consent of all three constituent parties of the MVA (Congress, Sharad and Uddhav), a body will be appointed on the contested seats which will find out which party has the strongest candidate on that seat. The next meeting will also discuss 62 seats in Vidarbha and the final seat allotment will be announced soon.

Let us tell you that after Ganeshotsav, talks are going on between the Mahavikas Aghadi regarding seat sharing. In fact, the MVA leaders are very concerned about the seat sharing issue. Because after its good performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections, the Congress is looking at getting more seats in Mumbai. According to sources, out of the 36 assembly seats in Mumbai, both the Uddhav party and the Congress have bagged six seats.

Before today’s MVA meeting, a meeting was held on September 18. The entire process lasted for about three and a half hours. In this meeting, Uddhav faction held 20 seats in Mumbai, Congress held 18 seats and Sharad faction held 7 seats. There are rumors that there will be a fight between the Congress and Uddhav group for 6 seats.

In a meeting held on September 18, it was revealed that the Congress and Uddhav party are contesting six seats each in Mumbai. It has Byculla, Kurla, Ghatkopar West, Versova, Jogeshwari East and Mahim seats.
