Lebanon has been hit by a series of explosions over the past two days. On the first day, late Tuesday afternoon, 5,000 pagers were blown up, and on the second day, walkie-talkies and solar panels also exploded. So far, at least 32 people have died in these explosions and more than 4,500 have been injured. The dead and wounded include fighters from the Iran-backed Lebanese group Hezbollah. Hezbollah has blamed Israel for these attacks. Such attacks on Lebanon are being criticized around the world. Muslim countries have also reacted strongly to these attacks.

Türkiye

Muslim-majority Turkey strongly condemned the Lebanon bombing. On Wednesday, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed sadness over the pager explosion in Lebanon and said Israel’s actions to escalate the conflict in the region were extremely dangerous.

Turkey’s communications directorate said in a statement that Erdogan expressed grief over the pager attack and prayed for the victims in a phone call with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati. Erdogan also wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

Erdogan told Prime Minister Mikati that efforts will continue to stop Israel’s growing aggression in the region.

Iran

Also injured in the pager attack was Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, who lost one eye in the blast and seriously injured the other.

Iran also reacted strongly to the pager explosion. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that the Islamic Republic of Iran condemns this heinous crime and expressed support for the Lebanese government and people. He also urged international organizations to fulfill their responsibilities.

President Pezeshkian expressed condolences to the victims of the pager attack and wished a speedy recovery to the injured in a post on social media. The president said that this was an act of terror and that ordinary Lebanese people were no different from other people.

Pezeshkian said that Allah is invincible and will take revenge, and the culprits will definitely be punished justly. He further said, “May Allah protect Lebanon, have mercy on the martyrs, and let the injured recover soon.”

Saudi Arabia

Prince Khalid bin Bandar Al Saud, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the UK, reacted in an interview after the pager exploded.

Asked to react to the pager explosions, the Saudi ambassador said in an interview with Sky News: “It is too early to form any view on what has happened. We have not received the full information. It is obviously unusual for so many pagers to fail at the same time and with the same type of failure.

Iraq

Muslim country Iraq condemned “Israel’s attack on Lebanon” and immediately provided medical assistance to help the victims.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Hijau al-Sudani ordered the immediate deployment of Iraqi medical and emergency teams to Lebanon late Tuesday. The teams will work to provide humanitarian assistance to those affected by the explosion in Lebanon.

Iraqi government spokesman Basim al-Awadi also said in a statement that the government is closely monitoring the deteriorating security situation in Lebanon. He believes Israel is responsible for the attack.

Awadi stressed that this could lead to a major conflict in Lebanon and that the international community needed to intervene immediately to stop Israel’s aggression.

Egypt

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi condemned the attack but did not name Israel. The Egyptian government issued a statement saying that President Sisi had spoken with US Secretary of State Blinken about the incident. The Egyptian president told Blinken that Egypt rejects any attempt to increase tensions in the region and supports Lebanon after the pager explosion.

The statement said, “The president rejected attempts to escalate the conflict and expand its scope to the regional dimension.” He stressed that all parties should work responsibly. He also confirmed Egypt’s support for Lebanon.

Yemen

Yemen’s armed forces expressed solidarity with Lebanon’s Hezbollah and called the Israeli attack cowardly.

Yemen’s Deputy Defense Minister Brigadier General Abdullah bin Amer posted on his X account that Hezbollah had every right to retaliate. “This heinous Israeli crime gives Lebanon the legal and legitimate right to respond,” he wrote.

He also stressed that Yemen’s support for Lebanon will not be limited to the political situation, and Yemen will go beyond this scope to help Lebanon.

Jordan

Muslim country Jordan also reacted to the explosion in Lebanon. In the capital Amman, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said on Wednesday that Israel was escalating dangerous conflicts in many ways. He said Israel had pushed the entire West Asia to the brink of regional conflict.

“We support Lebanon’s security, sovereignty, stability and the safety of its citizens. We condemn any action that threatens Lebanon’s security, sovereignty, independence and the safety of its citizens,” he said.
