MPSC Exam 2024: Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has postponed the Maharashtra Gazetted Civil Services Combined Preliminary Exam 2024 to be held on August 25, 2024. Amid protests from candidates, MPSC took this decision and the new exam date will be announced soon.
The Commission (MPSC) wrote in a post on its social media account ‘X’ (earlier Twitter), “In the meeting of the Commission held today, it was decided to postpone the Maharashtra Gazetted Civil Services Combined Prelims Exam 2024 to be held on August 25, 2024. The exam date will be announced soon.”
NCP(SP) chief Sharad Pawar had given a warning!
Earlier, NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar had expressed support to the candidates protesting in Pune demanding postponement of the MPSC preliminary examination. Pawar warned that if the government does not clarify its stand by Thursday, he will join the protest with the candidates.
Late on Wednesday night, Sharad Pawar wrote in a post, “It is the responsibility of the state government to consider the interests of the students appearing for the MPSC examination. However, it seems that the ruling party is not taking it seriously. If the government does not clarify its stand by tomorrow (Thursday), I will go to the agitation site and participate in the protest to ensure justice for the candidates.” NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar joined the movement by sitting with the protesting candidates.
Why was there a demand for postponement of MPSC exam?
In fact, the students preparing for competitive examinations in Pune, Maharashtra are demanding that 258 posts from the Agriculture Department be selected through MPSC examination. Thousands of protesters took to the streets of Pune with this demand. Last Wednesday night, there was a stir due to the demonstration of the students. The police who reached the spot had to work hard to control the situation. At the same time, there was a demand to postpone this exam due to the clash with the IBPS exam. The IBPS exam is also to be held on 25 August 2024.
MPSC had informed on 21 August that as per the demand letter for the posts of Group A, Group B and Group B (Junior) cadre in Maharashtra Agriculture Service, it is informed that the advertisement for the given cadre will be published in the next 2-3 days. Also, the preliminary examination for the cadre in this service will be conducted by the end of October 2024. The students are demanding that the examination of 25 August will also be conducted in October. In such a situation, they will be able to appear in both the examinations.
