Kartikeya Singh Chauhan, son of former Madhya Pradesh chief minister and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, said he never aspired to get a ticket from the Budni assembly seat. I never go to work with the intention of buying a ticket. People arriving in Budhni do not need a ticket.
The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday announced that former Congress leader Ramakant Bhargava will contest from the Budhni seat in the upcoming assembly by-elections in the state. Ramniwas Rawat contested from Vijaypur.
Budhni parliamentary seat after Shivraj Singh Chauhan resigned from Vidisha Lok Sabha seat earlier this year and became Union Minister A by-election is required. Karthikeya is one of the contenders from the Budhni seat, which his father has represented for five consecutive terms since 2006.
“Three Engines” Government
When asked about Bhargava’s nomination, Kartikeya said Madhya Pradesh has a dual-engine government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. He said when Bhargava got the ticket, it became a “triple engine” because he was a senior and experienced leader.
Kartikeya said: “It is appropriate to field him (Bhargava). We have had many elections under him even before I was born. He is an experienced leader.
“Never work to get a ticket”
The eldest son of the former chief minister said there were many more qualified leaders in Budney. He said he was also happy that Bhargava was elected as the candidate. He said: “As far as putting my name on the list of candidates is concerned, I have never acted for the sake of getting tickets. I don’t need tickets to reach the people of Budney. I act as a common worker for him, for Party, work for ideology.
“Together we will fight and win”
Kartikeya believes that personal aspirations do not matter as ideology keeps the BJP workers united. For me, there is no greater luck than having my name recommended by party workers. That’s enough for me. I guarantee that the elections in Budni will be held under the leadership of Shivraj Singh Chauhan and it will be the same this time. Together we will fight and win.
Kartikeya will campaign for Bhargava
Kartikeya said he would campaign for Bhargava just like he campaigned for his father. Let us tell you that by-elections to Budhni and Vijaypur assembly constituencies in Sehore and Sheopur districts will be held on November 13 respectively and counting of votes will take place on November 23.
