MP: Due to continuous rain for 36 hours, the princely state wall collapsed in Datia, 7 people died

In Madhya Pradesh’s Datia city, 7 people died when an old princely era wall near a house collapsed due to heavy rains. Two people buried under the rubble were rescued in a rescue operation. At present, relief work is going on.

This incident happened in Khalkapura area at around 4 am. A wall belonging to the princely state near a house collapsed, due to which 9 people got buried under the rubble.

Datia Collector Sandeep Makin said that seven people died and two others were rescued. Soon after the incident, senior officials reached the spot and started the rescue operation.

Assistance of Rs 4-4 lakh

Expressing grief over the incident, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the victims.

In view of the excessive rainfall and flood situation in the state, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has instructed the officers and employees not to go on leave until the situation becomes normal.

CM has said that due to change in the cycle of rain, the rainfall in the month of September is more than what it should be. Despite the heavy rainfall, life should remain normal, hence rescue work should be done by taking necessary precautions in time.

People living in low lying areas should be alerted in time and shifted to relief camps as per the need. Necessary caution and vigilance should be increased immediately on those bridges and culverts which are flooded.

The Chief Minister said that relief will be provided in case of loss of life and animal loss due to the effect of excessive rain. The CM announced to provide assistance of four lakh rupees each to all the collectors in case of loss of life and directed them to immediately provide the amount to the family members.

The CM said that wherever people are stranded in flood water, immediate arrangements should be made to airlift them with the help of helicopters. Protective arrangements should be made by identifying old dilapidated buildings and if necessary, residents should be shifted to a safe place.
