Money laundering case: Atiq Ahmed’s son Omar granted bail but will not receive relief; will remain behind bars

Omar Ahmed, the eldest son of the late mafia Atiq Ahmed, was granted bail but has not yet been released as many cases are pending against him in which he will remain incarcerated in prison. The CBI Court No. 1 in Lucknow on Thursday granted bail to Umar Ahmed in the money laundering case. Omar Ahmed was released on bail in two cases. These cases are related to money laundering and the Deoria incident.

Omar Ahmed allegedly attacked Lucknow businessman Mohit Jaiswal. The fight took place in Deoria over a money transaction. In this case, the Enforcement Directorate has registered a case against him for money laundering.

The special CBI court in Lucknow granted him bail in a Money Laundering Act case registered in ED. Mohammad Umar is currently lodged in Lucknow jail and will remain there even after being released on bail as more cases have been registered against him.

Omar surrendered to the CBI court for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting Lucknow real estate businessman Mohit and is currently lodged in Lucknow jail.

A murder case has also been registered against Umar Ahmed Umesh Pal. Police had earlier said that Omar had admitted his involvement in the conspiracy to murder Umesh Pal. Omar told police that his brother Asad met him after they returned from Bareilly jail with other attackers.

Many cases have been brought against Omar

He met his uncle Ashraf where he finalized the plan to murder Umesh Pal. Asad told Omar about the plan and the attackers who were preparing to kill Umesh Pal on the instructions of his father Atiq and uncle Ashraf.

Police officials said evidence collected earlier, statements of the arrested accused, interrogation of Umar and Ali revealed their involvement in the conspiracy to murder Umesh Pal.

It is noteworthy that the police filed the first charge sheet in this case in May 2023 against the accused Sadaqat Khan. Since then, two supplementary charges have been filed against eight defendants, including Atiq’s lawyer Khan Saurat Hanif and Atiq’s brother-in-law Dr. Ehlaq.
