In Uttar Pradesh, angry passengers beat a 34-year-old accused to death for sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl in a moving train. Regarding this incident, the police said that Humsafar train running between Lucknow and Kanpur (Humsafar Express) A man working as a coach attendant on contract with the railways died after he was beaten up badly by fellow passengers for molesting an 11-year-old girl in an express train.

According to the news agency report, the deceased was identified as Prashant Kumar, a resident of Bihar. After the incident on Tuesday night, the victim’s family and other passengers caught him. Additional Director General (Railways) Prakash D said that the accused had boarded the Humsafar Express from Siwan in Bihar along with the victim’s family. He made the girl sit on his berth and sexually assaulted her when her mother was not there.

The girl informed her mother about the incident, who informed the family and other passengers. On hearing about the sexual harassment, the angry family and passengers beat up the accused badly. The accused Prashant Kumar was taken into custody by the GRP at Kanpur Central Station.

The officer said, after the accused’s health deteriorated, GRP took him to KPM Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The ADG said that the victim’s mother has lodged an FIR against the accused under Section 74 (criminal force with intent to outrage the modesty of any woman) of the Indian Justice Code and sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He said that the FIR has been transferred to GRP Lucknow for further investigation.

The family of the accused also filed a case

The postmortem of the deceased was conducted by a panel of three doctors in Kanpur and later the body was handed over to the family to be taken to Siwan in Bihar for cremation. The family members of the deceased have also lodged a complaint of Prashant being beaten to death.
