Mohammed Shami comeback in Team India: Indian team’s star fast bowler Mohammed Shami is now completely fit. He has also started practicing. Shami is now desperate to join the Indian team, but it is not going to be that easy for him. Now he will also have to fulfill a condition of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), for which he seems ready.

Actually, Mohammed Shami has been out of Team India since the ODI World Cup 2023, hosted by India last year. He suffered an injury in his right heel and also underwent surgery in February 2024 this year. Now he is in the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for rehab.

Shami needs to play domestic cricket to make a comeback

Shami has also started practicing bowling here. But the only way for him to return to the Indian team is through domestic cricket. BCCI’s condition is also that Shami must play at least one domestic match before joining the Indian team.

However, BCCI has announced 4 teams for the first round of the domestic cricket tournament Duleep Trophy starting from 5th September next month. Mohammed Shami has not got a place in these four teams. Apart from Shami, the names of wicketkeeper Sanju Samson, Rinku Singh and opener Prithvi Shaw are also not there.

Shami’s return from New Zealand test series possible

The Indian team has to play a home series of 2 test matches against Bangladesh in September. According to media reports, it is difficult for Shami to play in this series. However, in October, the Indian team will play a 3-Test series against New Zealand at home. Shami may return in this.

Just before this, there will be Ranji Trophy tournament, in which Shami can be seen playing for Bengal. If reports are to be believed, the Bengal team will play its first two Ranji matches against Uttar Pradesh on October 11 and Bihar on October 18, in which Shami can play in any one of the matches and prove his fitness.

BCCI gave exemption to Kohli-Rohit-Bumrah

After this, the first test match of the series will be played against New Zealand from October 19. In such a situation, Shami will be able to play only the last 2 or one test match of the series against New Zealand. But his return is considered certain from the New Zealand series.

Let us tell you that recently BCCI had ordered that it is mandatory for the star cricketers of the Indian team to play domestic matches. If a player is out due to injury or any other reason, then it is necessary for him to play domestic matches to make a comeback in the Indian team, which will help in maintaining the form and fitness of the players. The board has given these instructions for everyone except Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah.
