England all-rounder Moeen Ali has announced his retirement from all international matches. Moeen was not selected in the England team for the white ball series against Australia, due to which he has taken this decision. Moeen played 68 Tests, 138 ODIs and 92 T20 matches for England.

In an interview to Daily Mail, Moeen said, ‘I am 37 years old and I was not selected for the series against Australia this month. I have played a lot of cricket for England. Now the time has come for the next generation, about which I was told. I felt this was the right time. I have done my job.’

Moeen says, ‘I am very proud to play for England. When you play for England for the first time, you do not know how many matches you have to play. So playing almost 300 matches… My first few years were spent around Test cricket. When Morgan took charge of ODI cricket, it became even more fun. But Test cricket is the real cricket.

“I’ve still tried to be realistic. I could stay and try to play for England again, but I know I won’t do that anymore. I still think I can play. But I understand how things are, and the team needs to develop in another cycle. It’s about being real to yourself,” Moi said.
