Established flagship mobile phones such as Apple and Samsung have given significant discounts, and mobile phone sales have also increased as a result.
Diwali sales demand rises
According to a report by Counterpoint Research, smartphone sales suddenly increased during Diwali. Still, smartphone sales were a bit slow early in the holiday season. Mobile phone sales tripled week-on-week due to heavy discounts and discount offers from smartphone brands. Most mobile phones are purchased in metropolitan cities such as Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Kolkata.
Research reports show that during the first stage of the festival, mobile phone call volume dropped by 3% to 4% year-on-year. At the same time, the value of mobile phones increased by 8%. Sales start growing rapidly between Dussehra and Diwali due to good margins offered by retailers. According to Counterpoint, offline channels contributed 60% of sales during Diwali.
High-end sales needs
High-end smartphone prices from Samsung and Apple have increased by 60% to 65%. High-end phones are selling well on e-commerce sites like Amazon and Flipkart. The company also raised sales targets by 40% to 50%. Especially the demand for high-end phones has increased the average selling price (ASP) from Rs 1,000 to Rs 23,000.
The demand for high-end mobile phones from Samsung, Vivo, Apple and others has increased significantly. At the same time, demand for Xiaomi’s cheap 5G phones has also emerged. Demand for 5G smartphones surged during festive sales during Diwali.
