Telangana MLA T Raja Singh has been banned from entering a district in Karnataka for three months. Raja Singh was, in fact, on his way to Mudhole town in Bagalkot district to attend a Ganesh immersion programme. But before that, the authorities banned him from entering the district for three months, citing the possibility of disrupting law and order. According to officials, the Ganesh Visarjan procession route passes through a mosque and Raja Singh’s history of inflammatory speeches was a cause of concern. Hence, a notice was served on him at his residence in Telangana.

In a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner and the District Magistrate, it is stated that a Ganesh immersion procession will be held in Mudhol on September 19. The public ground where the procession passes has a mosque in it, which is a highly sensitive area. About 10,000 to 15,000 Hindu volunteers from urban and rural areas of Mudhol will gather for this immersion procession. Raja Singh from Hyderabad (Telangana) is coming to Mudhol to participate in the procession and he is the main speaker of the program.

Further, Mudhol is a very sensitive city from the perspective of communal riots. Earlier, a total of 28 cases were registered at Mudhol police station in connection with the communal riots that took place during Mudhol Ganesh Visarjan on September 23, 2015, in which properties worth Rs. 9,46,22,410 were burnt and damaged. Cases registered against both the Hindu and Muslim communities are still pending in the courts. The atmosphere of hatred between the two communities in Mudhol is still as pervasive as before.

Officials said Raja Singh from Hyderabad (Telangana), who claims to be the founder president of BJP (Rashtra Gau Rakshak) and Shri Ram Yuva Sena, is a pro-government leader. His inflammatory and provocative statements could disrupt law and order. Raja Singh, who represents the Ghoshamahal parliamentary constituency in Telangana, is a controversial politician. In 2010, he was arrested by the Hyderabad police for allegedly inciting communal riots in Hyderabad. In 2017, he incited Hindus during a speech in Yadagiri town in Yadagiri district of Karnataka.

Officials said Facebook shut down his account in 2020. He was removed from the list in 2022 due to nationwide protests over his controversial remarks against the Prophet Muhammad. More than 105 criminal cases have been registered against him in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and other states. Many of these cases are related to communal crimes and he also self-declared 80 criminal cases during the 2025 Telangana assembly elections.

In this situation, there is a possibility of disturbing the law and order if Raja Singh participates in the Ganesha immersion procession in Mudhall. According to the report submitted by the Inspector General of Police of Bagalkot District, in order to maintain law and order, in exercise of powers conferred under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defence Act, 2023, Raja Singh is prohibited from entering Bagalkot District from 16/09/2024. The report submitted by the Inspector General of Police of Bagalkot District has been given three months to review the law and order situation.
