Minor girl raped in Odisha, police arrested the accused

A case of rape of a minor girl has come to light in Jajpur district of Odisha. On the basis of the complaint of the victim’s family, the police have registered a case and arrested a 30-year-old man. The accused has been identified as Uttam Singh of Nuagaon village.

According to the complaint filed by the victim’s mother, her 14-year-old daughter was sleeping alone on Monday night. At that time, the accused Uttam Singh broke the window and entered her room. After this, he made her a victim of his lust. The family woke up hearing the victim’s screams.

In this case, the victim’s mother has lodged a complaint at Tomka police station. After this, the police have registered a case against the accused Uttam Singh under the relevant sections of BNS and POCSO Act. The police have arrested the accused. This matter is being investigated.

Tomka police station in-charge Pramodini Sahu said that both the victim and the accused were medically examined at a government hospital in Sukinda. Police said that the accused was produced in a local court, from where he was sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

Man gets 10 years imprisonment for raping a girl

A court in Balasore, Odisha on Saturday sentenced a man to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a girl six years ago. The convict was also fined Rs 5000. An order was also given to pay a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the victim.

Balasore district POCSO court judge Ranjan Kumar Sutar said that if the convict fails to pay the fine amount, he will have to serve 2 more years in jail. The convict Bharat Sethi promised to marry the girl and kidnapped her.

Special Public Prosecutor Pranab Kumar Panda said that after examining 12 witnesses and 19 evidences, the court convicted Bharat Sethi under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. After this, the court sentenced him to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment.
