MINI India has today officially launched its new electric car Mini Countryman for sale in the Indian market. Equipped with attractive looks and powerful battery pack, the starting price of this electric car has been fixed at Rs 54.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Let us tell you that apart from the electric version, Countryman is also available for sale in (ICE) petrol variant in the global market, but currently only the electric model has been launched in the Indian market.
How is Mini Countryman Electric:
Based on the underpinnings of BMW iX1, the design of this electric car is largely similar to the previous generation model. But the company has minimized its design to make it simple. This will remind you of Cooper S. Compared to the previous model, this car is 60 mm higher and 130 mm longer. The result of which is that you get better space inside the car.
If we look at the look and design, the octagonal grille, newly designed headlamps without bezels and new tail-lamps are very similar to the Cooper S. The bumper also gets black plastic cladding in abundance with contrasting trims. A slight clear character line is visible over the length of the car and the wheel arches. The C-pillar treatment and floating roof effect thanks to the dual-tone paint finish really make it stand out.
What is special in the cabin:
As we told that the company has tried to keep this car simple by giving it a minimal design. It has a 9.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, just like the one you get in the Cooper-S. Apart from this, vertical AC vents make its cabin beautiful. The special thing is that the instrument cluster is not provided behind its steering wheel. Like other mini cars, a round shaped touchscreen system has been provided at the center of its dashboard which displays all the information.
Performance and Driving Range:
In Mini Countryman Electric, the company has given a battery pack of 66.4kWh capacity which has been taken from BMW iX1. This car has a single motor which is paired with front-wheel driving configuration. This electric motor generates power of 204hp and torque of 250Nm. The company claims that this car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.6 seconds. Its top-speed is 170 km/h.
The company says that this car is capable of traveling up to 462 km on a single charge. Its battery can be easily charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in 30 minutes with a 130kW rapid charger.

Let us tell you that this is the first car to be introduced like Mini which has Level-2 Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS). It also has a semi-autonomous driving system which allows the car to drive automatically at a speed of 60 km/h with the sales driver engaged. In this, most of the settings can be operated through the touchscreen only, hence not too many buttons have been used.
