Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has stressed the importance of leaders’ adaptability in today’s fast-changing world, and urged leaders to maintain optimism, energy, and clarity of thinking to effectively manage their teams. In a conversation with LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, Nadella outlined three key traits that leaders should focus on: bringing clarity of thinking, generating energy, and solving complex challenges, according to the Hindustan Times.

“The world needs leaders who can remain positive and energized in the face of adversity,” Nadella said. “The true test of leadership is the ability to clarify situations, inspire energy, and solve seemingly insurmountable problems. Leaders who can do this ultimately make the world a better place,” the report added.

The role of soft skills

Nadella also stressed the importance of soft skills in leadership, encouraging leaders to understand that employees are motivated by connections with their colleagues, not policies. “People come for the people, not for the policies,” he said. “As leaders, we need to create meaningful experiences. It’s not about scheduling meetings, it’s about creating events that bring people together,” said the Microsoft CEO.

The Microsoft CEO also addressed a growing challenge within the company, calling it the “productivity paradox.” He explained that while many managers believe their employees are underperforming, employees themselves report feeling overworked. Nadella said Microsoft is actively working to address this paradox.

According to media reports, Microsoft and investment giant BlackRock said on Tuesday that they have teamed up to raise up to $100 billion to build data centers and artificial intelligence infrastructure.

The alliance includes Global Infrastructure Partners and MGX, an advanced technology investment firm founded this year in Abu Dhabi, according to a joint release.

“We are committed to ensuring that AI helps drive innovation and fuel growth in every sector of the economy,” Microsoft’s CEO was quoted as saying in the media.

“The Global AI Infrastructure Investment Partnership will help us realize this vision,” he said.
