Metro schedule changed on Independence Day, these passengers will get exemption, DMRC gave information

Special preparations are going on in the country’s capital Delhi for the upcoming 15th August. In view of Independence Day, many changes have also been made in metro services. For the convenience of the public on the Independence Day celebrations on 15 August 2024, Delhi Metro will start its services at 04:00 am on all its lines from all terminal stations. On this day, metro facility will be available at an interval of every 15 minutes till 6 am. After this the metro will run as per the normal time table.

Apart from this, those who have invitation card issued by the Ministry of Defense to participate in the Independence Day celebrations will be allowed entry and travel on showing valid government photo identity card at the stations. This arrangement will be valid only for exits at Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Chandni Chowk metro stations, as these stations are closest to the venue. The invitation cards will also be valid only for return journey from these three stations. Regular announcements will be made inside trains to inform passengers about these arrangements. The Defense Ministry will reimburse DMRC for the travel expenses of such passengers.

Strict security arrangements made

Delhi Police has made strict security arrangements on August 15. Passengers will also be checked twice at metro stations so that no mistake is made. India is celebrating its 78th Independence Day this year. On this day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation from the Red Fort. Apart from this, Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory to ensure smooth and safe flow of traffic in the capital city. On August 15, many roads near the Red Fort will remain closed for normal traffic from 4:00 am to 10:00 am. Only vehicles with official labels will be allowed on these roads.
