Although people call the problems related to mental health the diseases of the rich, but a recent report has proved that mental health issues are now spreading in rural India also. A report released on Thursday has revealed that cases of anxiety have increased in rural India, stating that about 45 percent of the people in the research said that they have faced anxiety.

Anxiety cases are increasing in villages

According to the State of Health Care in Rural India-2024 report, the prevalence of mental health issues has steadily increased in India in recent years, raising public health concerns. A total of 5,389 houses in 21 states have been included in this report.

The main finding of this research was related to mental health, which revealed that the level of anxiety has increased in rural India. This shows that this is no longer just an ‘urban’ issue.

Anxiety is more prevalent in the elderly

Research shows that 45 percent of people have anxiety most of the time, which affects their mental state. Data shows that anxiety has a greater impact on the mental health of older people than younger people.

In this survey, 40 percent people aged 18-25 years admitted to having anxiety, while this proportion increased to 53 percent among people aged 60 years and above.
