Meerut: 20 students made fake minority certificates to become doctors, became Buddhists for admission

A big scam has come to light in Subharti University located in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Here 20 students have taken admission in MBBS under minority quota by submitting fake certificates of Buddhism. After this case came to light, orders have been given to investigate the certificates of students taking admission in all minority medical colleges across the state.

Actually, seats are reserved under minority quota in minority medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh. In the first phase of counselling at Subharti University in Meerut, 22 seats were under minority quota. Out of these, students took admission on 20 seats by submitting fake certificates of Buddhism. When this matter came to the notice of the Medical Education Department, orders were given for investigation.

State-wide probe ordered

After this case of Meerut, investigation has been started into the admissions made in the first phase of counseling in all the minority medical colleges of the state. Director General of Medical Education Department Kinjal Singh says that after the investigation, the admission of those candidates whose certificates are found to be fake will be canceled and legal action will be taken against them. The Medical Education Department is seriously investigating this matter. After the completion of the investigation, strict action will be taken against all those found guilty. This case once again highlights the need for transparency and accountability in the education sector.

More than 1100 MBBS seats in UP

The Union Health Ministry has recently approved the start of MBBS studies in five new medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh. Also, the number of seats in the medical colleges of Kanpur Dehat and Lalitpur has been increased from 50 to 100. This has created 600 new MBBS seats. The total number of new MBBS seats in the state for the academic session 2024-25 has now increased to 11,200. Of these, 5,150 seats are in government medical colleges and 6,050 seats are in private medical colleges.
