SP leader Qadir Rana
Uttar Pradesh will hold by-elections to nine assembly seats on November 20. During this period, the political climate in the state heated up. All parties are busy campaigning. Meanwhile, former MP Kadir Rana’s car was impounded by the police during the campaign in Meerapur assembly constituency. According to police, Qadir Rana installed a larger-than-standard flag on his car. Qadir Rana claimed that his vehicle had all necessary permits and said SP workers were being harassed unnecessarily. During the incident, an argument broke out between the police station and Qadir Rana. He told police: “Call, who do you call? If you have to hang him, hang him.”
Kadir Rana was driving a car for Sumbul Rana’s election campaign when his car was impounded. District Superintendent of Police Ravi Shankar said that the police impounded the car of the Samajwadi Party leader because the size of the flag on the vehicle was larger than the standard. He said the police were investigating the matter.
Many cases have been filed
However, the police are yet to register any case of violation of the model code of conduct in this matter. Meanwhile, Sambur Rana lodged a complaint with the Election Commission and alleged that the police were pressuring voters to support the BJP-LJ candidate. Earlier, a case was registered against Qadir Rana and 24 others for violating the model code of conduct for organizing an election meeting at Panchayat Bhawan.
